Barcelona have won the battle to sign talented Copenhagen striker Roony Bardghji and are now in the process of finalising the deal for the Swede.

Over the weekend, it was reported that the Catalan giants had shown interest in the 19-year-old, who is considered one of the most promising young players in Scandinavia.

Bardghji has already been on the scene for a few years, after he was promoted to Copenhagen’s first team at the start of 2022. He has now played 84 games for the Danish big club in all competitions.

The winger, born in 2005, has accounted for 15 goals and one assist in this period. Most memorable is his goal in a thrilling 4-3 win over Manchester United in the Champions League in November 2023.

Bardghji missed most of the 2024/25 season due to a serious cruciate ligament injury, but he returned to action this spring and did not lose any supporters during the long injury break.

A move to the Premier League has not surprisingly been discussed for the Kuwait-born player, who represents Sweden at national team level with two goals in nine appearances for the U21 national team.

Manchester City and Chelsea were both heavily linked with a transfer for the player who has been nicknamed “the Swedish Lionel Messi”, but the English big clubs now seem to have to give up to their Catalan rivals.

According to Romano, Barcelona are now in the “final stages” of a deal to sign Bardghji from Copenhagen, where his contract expires at the end of the year.

The two clubs are expected to come to an agreement on the final details in the coming days, and the teenager will thus officially become a Blaugrana player from July 1.

Once Barcelona’s new “Messi” is in place, the Spanish champions are expected to turn their attention to finalizing a deal for Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams.

The 22-year-old seems to have had his heart set on a move to Camp Nou for a long time, and Barcelona are actually believed to be on the verge of a transfer deal.

However, Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich refuse to throw in the towel and have made a final contract offer to Williams in the hope of luring him away from his home country.

The Spaniard’s move to Barca is thus not entirely certain yet, but it would be a surprise to see him in anything other than a Blaugrana shirt in the 2024/25 season.
