That’s what the Spanish 32-year-old striker is now feeling. Álvaro Morata feels he is out on a desert hike, while at the same time he says he enjoys where he is.
In an interview with Cadena SER, he looks back on his decision to leave Atlético Madrid which was actually where he started playing football as a little boy.

“I shouldn’t have left Atlético”
Álvaro Morata left Atlético Madrid last summer. He regrets it now: “If I could go back in time, I wouldn’t have made that decision.
The Spaniard moved to AC Milan, but he only stayed there for six months before moving on to Galatasaray in the winter transfer window. Now Morata is on loan to “Gala” for one year. “When you’re going through tough times, you don’t see things clearly, no matter how many people around you say you’re making a mistake.”
The 32-year-old admits that he should have thought things through better last summer, when he helped take European Championship gold with Spain. “It’s pointless to say now, but I should have thought more about whether I was going to leave Atlético or not. When you don’t feel good at certain moments in life, you make the wrong decisions.”
Morata says that Milan’s coach at the time, Paulo Fonseca, called him every day for a period of time last summer. “In that moment, I needed to feel loved. When I look back on it now, I realize that “Cholo” (Diego Simeone, Atlético’s coach) also valued me and loved me. I should have known that he did.”
This weekend, league leader Galatasaray will face Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Besiktas.
