There are pretty clear signals coming out of Old Trafford after yet another Premier League defeat to Manchester United. Manager Ruben Amorim, who is one win away from qualifying for the Champions League, believes that the Europa League triumph will change something.

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has shockingly claimed that it “doesn’t matter” if his club wins the Europa League, because the problems they face are “much bigger”.

Amorim has not had a good start as manager at Old Trafford. He took over a team from Erik ten Hag who were in 14th place in the Premier League, and has since led them down to 16th place – just one point ahead of Tottenham in 17th.

The only potential salvation for United’s season is to win the Europa League, where they have reached the final against second-placed Tottenham. But Amorim doesn’t feel that a win in the tournament will change anything. After a 2-0 defeat to West Ham in the Premier League, he said:
“For me, it doesn’t matter if we win the Europa League, because the problems are much bigger than that.
“The lack of energy, of intensity – those are the most dangerous things in this club. You can feel it from the first minute. Between our own field and the opponent’s field, there is a lack of commitment. That is something we have to change in this club. I am responsible for it.
“It’s something we have to work on, both on and off the pitch. If we can’t do that, we have to make room for other people. All of them.

“I’m responsible for it” is nothing more than a hint of exit for the former successful manager.

Ruben Amorim is aware of Manchester United’s weaknesses
Amorim has not held back on criticism of United’s performance since he arrived at the club.

Several times he has stated that this United team is the worst in the club’s history.

First he said it in January, and then again recently – which clearly shows that he doesn’t think anything has improved.

According to Amorim, a Europa League title won’t change anything either, but it will at least show people at the club that they are still capable of winning trophies – regardless of whether it inspires him.

Man Utd recap: United confident of signing defender
A recent report suggests that United are “confident” that they will sign German centre-back Jonathan Tah in the summer. United are one of the clubs looking to sign the experienced defender.

At the same time, Barcelona have registered a surprising interest in Antony, who revived his career in Spain with Real Betis.

However, another United player is not going anywhere, as it is reported that André Onana will refuse to leave Old Trafford in the summer.

Captain Bruno Fernandes, who is tempted by a huge salary in Saudi Arabia, will finish the season on a high note.
