Then the international break is over and Norway is in the World Cup. Probably not what occupied the Manchester United manager the most, but we take every opportunity to bake in the historic event. For Amorim, who has taken a summary after 11 games into his first full (hopefully) season at Old Trafford, it is now about four factors – where formation is not one of them. The formation discussion that has followed the Portuguese through the storm in the Premier League since last November is now put to rest.
In an interview with Australian Stan Sports, Amorim sums up the development Man Utd have had over the past year and what remains.

“The results are different and we play better, but we play better because we have more confidence. It starts with good results, such as against Liverpool. If you look at that game, we had some luck, which changed the momentum for us,” Amorim begins.
“We had a very good pre-season, and started the season very well [in terms of play] against Arsenal, and then it went up and down until we got here, which I had expected. It’s nothing new, and it’s not surprising to me that we’re improving.
Then came the question of all the noise around the formation he insists on.
“I can share the feeling I had after the Tottenham game. When I came back here to Carrington, I watched the game and my feeling was frustration that we’re a long way from perfection – we’re a long way from being the team that can win every game.
Because it’s no longer about formation.
“We have a lot to do, but what I’ve been saying for many months is that the formation is not the problem. The formation is the start of something, and then it’s about dynamics, confidence, the way we play the game and our competitiveness. If you look at the games we have struggled in this season, in my opinion it was not about the formation, but about the lack of intensity.
dynamics. Self-confidence. Preparation and execution on match day. Competitiveness.
