When Solskjaer took over Manchester United in a few chaotic December days in 2018, the United players were stripped of confidence. Jose Mourinho had grown tired after what he described as an “” transfer window, the Premier League season was an embarrassing start with wins in individual games, then losses in the next. Then the Norwegian United legend entered the stage and focused on building his confidence – and keeping it there. Six years later, Ruben Amorim is now focusing on the same thing.

Last season, this was Ten Hag’s and Ruben Amorim’s big challenge, among many, to keep up the punch. After a win, or a strong result against the best clubs, there was often a direct loss in the next game. Amorim has realized that this needs to be fixed.

After the 2-1 win against Chelsea in September, Amorim was very aware of the momentum.

-We were very eager to start the season, but we have to have that feeling all the time… I’m talking about winning the next one, and then the next one again. Only when we win two or three in a row will the feeling change… If we as a team don’t understand how important it is to keep the momentum up, then we have a big problem. Anything can happen in a game – especially in the Premier League – and you see that every weekend,” Amorim said in September.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer led Manchester United to 14 wins in his first 19 games. After Monday’s 1-4 win over Wolverhampton, we hear Ruben Amorim emphasize Solskjaer’s formula for success. Quite elementary, but not a given for Manchester United to get done.

“We always have to build momentum. We have to get to a point where we can win 20 games in a row. The next game is important and crucial to win. Every game and every training session is important, so we have to focus on the next game and win it,” Amorim told the club’s website.
