“I don’t know if I’m going to be here, but the way we think, we’re going to come back, and we’re going to win (the Premier League title) in the future.” This was Ruben Amorim’s statement last week. For us, a sign that he has realized it could all be over in a few months. United boss Ratcliffe is asked after the Arsenal game about Amorim’s future at Old Trafford, and gives an answer that should not be misunderstood.

Amorim has managed United 26 games. Eleven wins, five draws and as many as ten losses. This gives a points average of 1.46 per game. This does not stop Ratcliffe from praising the Portuguese.

“We are now starting to see small signs of what Rúben can achieve. You saw it in fragments against Arsenal. How many players on our bench against Arsenal did you recognise? How many of them have worn the United shirt in a first-team game before? It is not a full-fledged squad. We’re down to ten, maybe eleven, proper first-team players right now, so Rúben is doing a great job,” United boss Gary Neville told The Overlap.

This was the last game, what about the job Amorim has done since his arrival?

“I think, to be honest, Rúben actually does a very good job if you look at the kind of players he has available. Rúben is a brilliant young manager and I have faith that he will be here for a long time,” says Ratcliffe.

With Ratcliffe steering the United ship, we understand that Ruben Amorim still has full confidence.
