Spanish manager Andoni Iraola, who was known to be a tough guy in Athletic Bilbao’s defence and at the beginning of his managerial career, has managed to become a little softer and sociable, which has given him great success this season with Bournemouth.

Bournemouth are currently fighting with less resources than clubs around them in the table for a place in the European Cups next season.

According to The Telegraph, Iraola is now inclined to stay at Bournemouth, at least through next season – despite interest from Tottenham. At the same time, Bournemouth are working to convince Iraola to sign a new contract, something The Guardian has also previously reported.

Iraola has been mentioned as one of several candidates for the Tottenham job should the London club choose to sack manager Ange Postecoglou. Tottenham are even doing worse than Manchester United, so it should be a “no brainer” that he is fired. Fulham’s Marco Silva and Brentford’s Thomas Frank have also been linked with Spurs.

Iraola took over as Bournemouth coach in the summer of 2023 and has previously coached Rayo Vallecano, Mirandes and AEK Larnaca. At the moment, he has a contract that lasts until the end of next season.
