Manchester United fans have already forgotten about Andre Onana. When David de Gea left Old Trafford as the Premier League’s best goalkeeper for the 2022/23 season, United supporters were quickly reminded of what an eminent goalkeeper they had in the Spaniard. Onana entered the scene, after two seasons with everything from world-class saves to the most horrendous goalkeeping blunders, the Cameroonian international was sent to the Süper Lig. After a few games with Senne Lammens between the sticks, Onana is forgotten at Old Trafford. The 29-year-old still refuses to put on the loser label.

After the frighteningly weak League Cup night against Grimsby Town, Onana has played his way to success at Trabzonspor on loan. The debut game ended in a loss, but with great play by the United goalkeeper. Since then, Onana has been undefeated – and in two of the last three, there has also been a clean sheet.

It is an anything but defensive Onana who talks about her philosophy as a goalkeeper.

“I always go on the pitch to win, and fear no one but God. I don’t see myself as a loser, and when I don’t win, I try to learn from it,” Onana begins, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Which puts the United stay in a larger perspective.

“To come from Cameroon, to play in Ajax, Barcelona, Inter, Manchester and now in Trabzonspor is incredible. When I look at what I have achieved in the last 10-11 years, it is simply fantastic, it comes from the 29-year-old.

The rental period runs until the end of the season. After that, it is again open for Onana. A return to Old Trafford is unlikely to be for the winner Onana anyway.
