A year ago, the Brazilian Football Federation openly worked to persuade Carlo Ancleotti to lead Brazil towards and to success in the 2026 World Cup. For a while, it looked like the Italian fox was on his way, but chose to extend with Real Madrid. After this month’s Champions League exit against Martin Ødegaard’s Arsenal, Ancelotti has once again been heavily linked with the Brazil job after the end of the season. So strong that a bunch of different media have reported this is a done deal. Now comes a counter-message.

Transfer journalist Romano, Marca and Brazilian Globo have all picked up on the signal that Ancelotti will not be the national team coach for Brazil. The deal was finalized for signing, but Ancelottti reportedly turned around at the 12th hour and politely declined, it is reported.

According to various media outlets, Real Madrid, who had decided to sack Ancelotti, have refused to pay compensation, instead demanding that the Italian himself resign.

Strange story.
