Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Barcelona. These are the giants willing to dig deep to secure one of the market’s hottest attacking players. The Bayer Leverkusen boss admitted it would be tough to persuade the 21-year-old to stay at Leverkusen, but not impossible.

Wirtz’s market value is an extreme 130 million euros (transfermarkt), the giants have been willing to make bids approaching this sum. For Leverkusen, an extreme sales income for a former academy player, but the value of having Wirtz for a few more seasons in the Leverkusen shirt has made the Bundesliga club go to great lengths to persuade the 21-year-old, with 11 goals in 24 games so far this season, to stay.

According to Kicker, Wirtz has now made the decision and has put his signature on a contract extension with Bayer Leverkusen.

The previous contract runs until 2027, the German media reports the new contract runs until at least 2028. For City, Bayern and Barcelona, a big line in the bill.
