Atletico Madrid have received a significant boost in their attempts to strengthen a problem position this summer, after their first goal has expressed a desire for a transfer.
It has been confirmed in recent weeks that Atletico want to sign a new left-back, as the club has not been impressed with the level of Javi Galán and Reinildo Mandava. After ending their interest in Milan’s Theo Hernández, they have turned their attention to Liverpool’s Scottish star Andy Robertson.

Robertson is seen as the ideal candidate to improve Atletico at left-back, and while Liverpool won’t make it easy for a transfer, Los Colchoneros have now received a significant boost in their chances.
Andy Robertson wants to join Atletico Madrid
As reported by Matteo Moretto, Robertson has already informed Atletico of his desire to move to the Wanda Metropolitano.
“Liverpool are demanding a moderate amount to let Andrew Robertson go, with a contract that expires in 2026. Atletico consider Robertson an achievable target after breaking off negotiations with Milan for Theo Hernández: the gap between the clubs is considered too great by the Red and Whites. Robertson has already said yes to Atletico.”
Robertson becomes second Liverpool player to take a stand
Robertson is the second Liverpool player to express a desire to join Atletico this summer, after Darwin Núñez. However, the full-back is more likely to complete the transfer, especially as he will be significantly cheaper.
It remains to be seen whether Robertson will actually join Atletico, but if it does, it will be a transfer that suits all parties. He will be a perfect fit for Diego Simeone’s squad, and his winning mentality will come naturally.
