Last summer, Kevin de Bruyne left City. The Belgian had been one of Pep Guardiola’s managers out on the pitch, a partnership that had given Manchester City huge success. This summer, the next key player behind Guardiola’s success is making the step out of the Etihad.

After nine years, Bernardo Silva is leaving Manchester City. The contract expires in the summer, the arrow has pointed in the direction of exit. Now comes the confirmation.

City assistant Pep Lijnders confirms.

“When he’s not playing, you’ll see how much he’s missed, but all good stories have an end and I hope he enjoys the last few months – it’s only six weeks – and gets a good farewell. He deserves all the attention,” says assistant coach Pep Lijnders according to The Guardian.

Pep Lijnders joined Manchester City in the summer of 2025 and has a past at Liverpool as Jürgen Klopp’s assistant.

“I didn’t like him before. Now I love him. The way he can feel the games and what is needed. There are not many like him,” Lijnders concludes.

Since joining from Monaco in 2017, Bernardo Silva has won a bunch of titles, in the last week the Portuguese passed 450 games for Manchester City.
