Antonio Conte has revealed the biggest difference between Scott McTominay’s role at Napoli compared to his time at Manchester United. Serie A leaders Napoli resume their impressive league season on Saturday when they face Lecce, after beating Torino 2-0 in their previous game.
McTominay scored a double in Napoli’s win over Turin and thus continued his fantastic goal-scoring performances in Italy after his transfer from Manchester United last summer. The Italian media has praised his efforts.

From Manchester United to Naples
The Scot left United for Napoli in a transfer worth £25.7 million, and has flourished under Anotonio Conte.
McTominay has been a key player for the Italian coach, who compared his role at Napoli to his time at Manchester United.
Conte, who has previously coached Chelsea in the Premier League, claims that the star player “never had a leading role at Manchester United”, unlike the current situation at Napoli.

Contes analyse
“I’ve always talked about having to find solutions because when I looked at the squad, there weren’t a lot of goals to get from individual players,” Conte said.
“When faced with situations like this, you can’t just rely on 2-3 players scoring 10+ goals. You have to create a goal-scoring collaboration and find tactical solutions.”
“McTominay is obviously stronger now than when he arrived. He feels more complete, with more knowledge. He also reaches an important phase in his career where he understands where he is going. He was in an intermediate position at United – he never had a leading role there, which we have given him here. He has grown a lot through hard work, and now he is complete. But everyone else has also improved, otherwise it will be difficult to explain why we have 74 points.”
McTominay’s successful season
The 28-year-old has scored 12 goals across all competitions this season, 10 of them in Serie A.
It is safe to say that he is experiencing the best season of his career so far, in his first campaign in Italy after leaving England.
McTominay will now secure the first league championship of his career, while Napoli are aiming for their fourth league title in the club’s history.
