Even though Hansi Flick had to put Marcus Rashford on the bench against Getafe after the Englishman’s lax attitude to kick-off time, there is little doubt that the Barcelona manager loves Rashford as a type of player. On loan from Manchester United for the season, the test of the 27-year-old has so far confirmed he is right for the La Liga club. However, there is no straight path to a permanent transfer, it is reported.
In fact, there could be a “deadlock” between Barcelona and United next summer. Various media outlets reported earlier this month that Barcelona have a £26 million purchase option, but according to the Manchester Evening News, the Spaniards want a contract of around £25 million, while Manchester United are calculating up to £40 million from the buying club.

When Rashford joined Aston Villa on loan in January, United had included a £40 million purchase option in the deal, which was later not triggered after Villa failed to secure a Champions League ticket.
With Rashford’s gigantic salary in his contract with United until 2028, there are several factors at play. It is therefore probably anything but a plank ride for Barcelona to bring in Rashford on a permanent transfer. A lot also stands or falls on whether Rashford continues to deliver as he did against Newcastle.
