Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso’s confidence in the Turkish player is causing the Whites to fork out additional bonus payments, according to Turkish Fanatik.
Cutting a diamond is a process that takes both time and money. Xabi Alonso’s investment in Arda Güler has now led to the Turk reaching 75 appearances for Real Madrid – a milestone that will come at a cost.
He is likely to be part of Real Madrid’s starting line-up for tonight’s Champions League match at Anfield against Liverpool.

According to the Turkish media, the Spanish big club will now have to pay two million euros to Fenerbahçe, as this number of games played triggers a clause in the transfer agreement.
More bonuses to come
The deal includes two additional bonus clauses: one for 100 matches and one for 125 matches. When these levels are reached, Real Madrid will have to shell out an additional two million euros for each to the Istanbul club.
Although 125 games are unlikely to be achievable this season, it is very likely that Güler will reach 100 games if he avoids injuries and continues to play under Alonso. With 27 league games remaining and potentially over 50 games in total in league, Champions League and Copa del Rey, the Turk only needs to participate in 25 more games for Fenerbahçe to receive an additional two million euros.
The Turkish club has already received four million euros in total as Güler reached 25 and 50 games respectively for Real Madrid.
Establishing himself as an important piece
Either from the start or as a substitute, Arda Güler has participated in all of Real Madrid’s 14 games this season, with a total of 929 playing minutes. The 20-year-old Turk is now facing what could be his big breakthrough season in Madrid.
Between his own goals and a good connection with Kylian Mbappé, the player from Ankara has already accounted for nine goal points this season (3 goals and 6 assists).
Trust has deep roots
That Arda Güler would become a key player for Alonso could already be sensed. When Real Madrid considered loaning him out over two years ago after his transfer from Fenerbahçe, it was precisely Alonso – then coach of Bayer Leverkusen – who wanted the Turk to strengthen his midfield.
