Sports director Jörgen Petersson on the recruitment
When the decision was made to adjust the coaching staff, work began that had to be carried out with regard to the time pressure that comes from the search for a new coach in the middle of the season. In the recruitment phase, we felt confident in the work of Juan, Jonas and Uffe. Quickly finding a rough list of coach names is not the difficult part (there are many coaches who have been recommended to us in one day or who have recommended themselves), but for us it has been most important to start from what we ourselves think we need in terms of approach to football, leadership and experience. After the meeting with Arne Sandstö and subsequent conversations, it feels very good when we can now present him as IFK Värnamo’s next head coach for the first team. With a background both as a player and the coach he has, for example most recently at FC Midtjylland, a big club with its own way of working. But also that he has experience from other clubs where personal development has been increasing – we think that combination is good.

Sandstø brings with him broad experience from Norwegian football, where he was head coach of FK Jerv for the past seven years. Previously, he has also managed clubs such as Sandefjord Fotball, Løv-Ham (now Brann 2), Notodden FK, IK Start and Odds Ballklubb.

Värnamo is in a difficult situation in the table after eight league rounds played. The team has only managed to secure one point so far in the season, with one draw and seven losses. They are last in the table and have a full seven points up to safe ground.
