Liverpool ‘rejects’ signing three Premier League players linked to the club

The Daily Mail’s Lewis Steele has confirmed that the club have rejected three big Premier League names who have been linked with a move to Anfield.

After Liverpool won the Premier League title with a win over Tottenham at Anfield, fans have immediately started thinking about the upcoming transfer window and how the team can be strengthened before the title defence next season.

Arne Slot’s team has been linked with several big players in recent weeks, with Newcastle United’s star Alexander Isak and Bournemouth duo Dean Huijsen and Milos Kerkez among those who are said to be on the goal list.

But a new report has now come out to clarify the situation, and it puts any link between Liverpool and three other Premier League stars who were supposedly on Slot’s transfer list, put to rest.

Although Liverpool are looking to strengthen several parts of their squad – with the likes of Darwin Núñez and Luis Díaz linked with an exit this summer – it is clear that attack is the top priority.

As a result, the Reds have been linked with dozens of the best attacking talents both from England and abroad, but three players who were originally considered targets are not even on Liverpool’s radar.

According to Steele, Aston Villa superstar Morgan Rogers, Brighton striker João Pedro and the in-demand Liam Delap are not on Liverpool’s list at this time, despite recent rumours linking them with a summer move to Anfield.

Rogers has had the best season of his career after signing for Villa in February last year, with 14 goals and 13 assists across all competitions.

Pedro, despite several injuries, has managed 10 goals and seven assists for Brighton this season, while Delaps’ alleged relegation clause of £30 million is said to have attracted interest from both Manchester City and Chelsea.

But it seems that Liverpool have rejected all three. Steele confirmed that Xavi Simons and Benjamin Šeško were scouted this weekend, while Hugo Ekitike is still a possibility – despite his expected high price tag.

Regardless of who Liverpool decide to go for this summer, Slot is confident that he and sporting director Richard Hughes will be able to make deals – especially after securing the club’s 20th domestic title.

After the title win over Tottenham, Slot stated:

“To experience this once is very nice. But we would like to experience it again.”

“It definitely helps attract new players as well, because most of the players we want, we’re not the only club that thinks are good. They have several options. Then it might help for them to see that the way we do things here is special.”

“Up until now, when I’ve spoken to players we wanted to bring in, I’ve always told them that our fans are really special and that it’s special to play for this club. But after Sunday, I don’t think I’ll ever have to tell anyone again how special our fans are – because it was incredible.”
