Arsenal and Chelsea interested in signing Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon, who is valued at around €95 million.

This comes from iNews, who report that both Arsenal and Chelsea are keen to sign a new left-winger this year, and they are expected to compete for Athletic Club’s Nico Williams and Borussia Dortmun’s Jamie Bynoe-Gittens when the summer transfer window opens.

But Gordon has now been identified as an option by the London-based clubs, and Newcastle have put a price tag of €95 million on him to fend off interest.

Newcastle could be forced to sell

The 24-year-old Englishman has scored nine goals and provided seven assists in 41 appearances across all competitions this season. But Newcastle may be forced to consider a sale due to concerns over the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

Liverpool were heavily linked with a move for the former Everton player last summer, but their interest has clearly waned, and a move to Anfield now looks less likely.

Chelsea resumes interest in Anthony Gordon

Gordon, whose estimated market value currently stands at “only” €50 million, was close to a move to Chelsea when Thomas Tuchel was coach at Stamford Bridge, but the transfer ultimately didn’t materialise.

“It was pretty close, to be honest,” Gordon told reporters when asked about Chelsea’s interest in November.

“I was desperate to leave at that point and especially work with him [Tuchel]. I felt that my style of play would fit well with his way of playing, the way Chelsea were playing at the time, which was very exciting for me.

“It didn’t end with that happening. It was a big opportunity for me that didn’t come to fruition, and now I’m looking forward to working with him a few years later [in England’s national team system].
