Arsenal supporters remember with horror the seasons they didn’t score from the top. A real striker who hammers in 20-30 goals every season has been hunted for. This summer, the choice was between Benjamin Sesko or Viktor Gyökeres, it ended with the Swede. Although it is still early days, it may look like Gyökeres is not the striker a candidate for titles in the Premier League and Champions League must have at the top. This could open the door for a player who has already shown he can deliver in the Premier League.

According to Teamtalk’s sources, Arsenal are ready to bang on for the €100 million+ signing of Julian Alvarez. The Atletico Madrid star, the Argentine who had to admit he was in the shadow of Erling Haaland at City (despite 36 goals and 19 assists in 103 games in the light blue shirt), is said to be unhappy at Atletico. The La Liga club have reportedly signalled they are opening the door to Alvarez sale, but are demanding at least €100 million for the striker.

The sources claim the Gunners have done “discreet research” about the signing of Julian Alvarez, ESPN also reports on Arsenal’s advance. Arsenal’s sporting director, Andrea Berta, is the man who brought Alvarez to Atleti in 2024. So far, the Argentine stands with a solid 40 goals and 13 assists in 88 games in the Atletico shirt.

According to Spanish Sport, Arsenal are now “prepared to empty their bank account” for Alvarez signing in the summer, here Arsenal can negotiate down the price, if Gabriel Jesus is sent to Madrid. If Alvarez signs with Arsenal, Jesus would get less playing time anyway.
