Arsenal have made Tino Livramento a top target. Arsenal have joined Manchester City in their pursuit of Tino Livramento, according to a report, while Manchester United’s plan to sign the Newcastle United star has faced a major hurdle.

Livramento came through Chelsea academy and quickly established himself as one of their most exciting young players. He was named the club’s Academy Player of the Year in 2021, but soon began to doubt whether he would get playing time at senior level in west London.

With strong competition for places at Stamford Bridge, Livramento joined Southampton in August 2021, without having played a first-team game for Chelsea. His electrifying efforts for the Saints led to a £40 million transfer to Newcastle in August 2023, and Livramento’s value has only increased since then.

According to a report by Football Transfers, Arsenal have landed on the defender as a “leading target” and are “monitoring” his situation closely.

The Gunners are unlikely to make a move this month, given the difficulties of the January window, but they are expected to open talks in the future if Livramento pushes for a new challenge.

Arsenal bosses Andrea Berta and Mikel Arteta see the England international as a perfect match in their squad, and someone who can emulate Jurrien Timber. Livramento, like Timber, is versatile and can excel as a full-back on both flanks.

At 23 years old, Livramento also has its best years ahead of it.

The report suggests that Livramento could replace Ben White at the Emirates. White is “not happy” with his lack of playing time and could push for a transfer either this month or in the summer.

Tino Livramento faces an uncertain future
The reason rival clubs are getting excited about Livramento is that he is yet to commit his future to Newcastle by signing a new contract.

Sources suggest that Livramento could consider a spectacular switch away from St James’ Park to challenge for Premier League titles and other major silverware.

On December 22, it was claimed that Manchester United want to sign Livramento and make him a wing-back. However, this plan seems to be in shambles as Ruben Amorim has been sacked, and United are expected to return to a back four.

On December 8, our transfer expert Fraser Fletcher revealed that Manchester City are preparing a £65 million bid to test Newcastle’s resolve. It has been rumoured that the player’s current deal includes an expiry clause of £70-80 million.

We understand that Chelsea still admires Livramento and would also be interested in a reunion.
