There are probably many who are tired of hearing about Viktor Gyökeres, but this transfer story seems to be dragging on. Sporting love that the big clubs are fighting to sign the striker with 54 goals in 52 games and will of course take advantage of the situation. The Swede threatens not to return to the club if they do not set their price expectations at a level that does not block a move to the Premier League. In London, Arsenal have now responded.

Earlier this month, the Premier League club reportedly made an optimistic bid of £46.8 million. An insane amount of money for a 27-year-old that few had heard of three or four years ago.

But not enough for Sporting. According to Portuguese A Bola, Arsenal have now submitted their second bid, significantly higher.

It will be 60 million euros plus bonuses. Thus, Arsenal meets the price everyone – except the Sporting management – had perceived to be the price that would realize the transfer to Gyökeres.

The Portuguese media claims that the Sporting management is still standing firm on 80 million euros plus bonuses. Arsenal are on the offensive, but this is far from over.
