Arsenal have spent over one billion pounds on players under manager Mikel Arteta. – And after a number of second places in the Premier League, it finally seems to be paying off. – Arsenal top the table and when they later today Wednesday host Brentford at the Emirates, captain Martin Ødegaard will be back and the chance of increasing the lead is great.

Arsenal could be open to offers for three players in the January window, following their £250m summer spending. With seven new players this summer, they could be cramped in the dressing room. Martin Zubimendi and Viktor Gyökeres have already established themselves as regular fixtures in the first team, with the Spanish midfielder among Arsenal’s most consistent players.

Eberechi Eze, Noni Madueke and Cristhian Mosquera have also been a lot to see in the first weeks of the season. Christian Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga were signed primarily to provide depth, as Mikel Arteta wants two high-quality options in each position.

After such a busy summer, Arsenal are not expected to be active in January.

However, according to the Daily Mail, the club will be willing to consider offers for certain bench players.

They report that the Gunners will be open to selling both Gabriel Martinelli and Ben White if the right offers come.

Martinelli has only started two league games so far and with Leandro Trossard in good form and Madueke close to returning from injury, further options could be limited.

Despite that, Arsenal are in no hurry to sell the Brazilian, as his contract runs until 2027, while the club has an option for a one-year extension.

White has also struggled for game time this year, as Jurriën Timber has established himself as one of the best right-backs in the Premier League.

But with a contract until 2028, Arsenal will only sell at the right price.

Another player who could leave the club is Ethan Nwaneri, but it will only be on loan. The 18-year-old midfielder is highly valued and signed a new long-term contract in August that will keep him at Arsenal until 2030.

But Nwaneri has struggled for game time this season and Arsenal are prepared to let him go on loan to help his development.

While Arsenal are not expected to be busy in January, their plans could change if injuries continue to pile up.

They are currently favourites to win their first Premier League title since 2003 and don’t want injuries to cost them that.

Gabriel Magalhães suffered a thigh injury during Brazil’s friendly win over Senegal and was left out of the squad for the match against Tunisia.

He is now a big doubt for this weekend’s north London derby against Tottenham Hotspur.

Riccardo Calafiori and Timber also suffered injuries during the international break.

The duo have played a key role in Arsenal becoming one of Europe’s strongest defensive teams, and a long-term injury to either of them would be a huge blow.
