When Andrea Berta was tapped in as the new sporting director at Arsenal last week, the rumor of giant investments had been circulating. The genius sporting director who helped lift Atletico Madrid to a “permanent” Champions League ticket and La Liga title in the 2020/21 season, comes in with big plans and a solid budget.

Berta will follow the signing of Martin Zubimendi all the way in. Nico Williams to the signing table is next on the to-do list, but it doesn’t stop there.

Wolverhampton striker Matheus Cunha has been one of the candidates to become the next big Arsenal striker. According to Caughtoffside’s sources “close to the situation”, Arsenal are in pole position to land a contract with Cunha – largely due to Cunha’s contact as an Atletico Madrid player with Berta.

The versatile striker has a big fan in Berta, who sees the Brazilian striker with 13 Premier League goals so far in the season as the player the Arsenal attack needs.

The English media reports Wolverhampton management have come to terms with the fact that they are losing Cunha this summer and have started their transfer strategy, which includes income from Cunha’s £62.5 million buyout clause.
