On the same day that Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes chooses football over money, one of the world’s very best managers does the opposite. – It is said to have been completely impossible for Simone Inzaghi to continue at Inter Milan after the disgraceful 5-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final.
It is not enough to be the world’s second best club when you lose by historic figures.

Inter confirms that Simone Inzaghi is leaving as head coach. The Italian coach is now on his way to Saudi Arabian Al-Hilal.
A season where the word almost fits well!
A couple of weeks ago, the 49-year-old Italian manager, who before Inter Milan has only managed Lazio, received an offer of an annual salary of 20 million euros. But after Simone Inzaghi wanted to wait until after the Champions League final to give feedback and that the Club World Cup is fast approaching, the latest rumours say that Al-Hilal beefed up his annual salary to 25 million euros.
Mutual agreement
The decision to end the collaboration was made jointly during a meeting on Tuesday afternoon.
- “Inzaghi’s tenure at Inter will be remembered by fans, management and staff as a time marked by burning commitment, combined with high professionalism,” says club president Giuseppe Marotta. He places Inzaghi among the club’s greatest coaches of all time, along with legends such as Herrera, Mancini, Trapattoni and Mourinho.
Successful period
Under Inzaghi’s leadership, Inter secured six titles:
- 1 Serie A title
- 2 Coppa Italia wins
- 3 Supercoppa Italiana trophies
This season could have been his very best, but the league championship slipped away at the last minute, and the team suffered a crushing defeat to PSG in the Champions League final.

Thank you message from Inzaghi
- “Now the time has come to say thank you for me after a four-year journey where I gave everything for this club. Every single day, my first and last thoughts have belonged to Inter,” Inzaghi said.
- “The six trophies and two Champions League finals are concrete proof of what we have achieved together.”
The coach extends a special thank you to the club’s millions of fans:
- “To all the Nerazzuri fans who supported me, shared both joys and sorrows – you will always be in my heart. Forza Inter!”
Next stop: Saudi Arabia
According to Italian media, Inzaghi will take over Al-Hilal and make his debut in the Club World Cup in the United States, where the team will face Real Madrid as early as June 18.
