Bad news for Chicago Bulls fans. Lonzo Ball will miss the entire 2023-2024 season. The club has already confirmed the news. What happened?

Lonzo Ball joined the Chicago Bulls ahead of the 2021-22 season. His last game was on January 14, 2022, when he left the court with a knee injury, which later turned out to be a hole in his meniscus.

In March, Ball underwent a rare procedure on his knee. It was a cartilage transplant. Commenting on the unique nature of the operation, Dan Bernstein of 670 The Score said, “It is extremely rare and is much more likely to be done just for his quality of life off the pitch.”

While this news is probably unsettling for Chicago Bulls fans, it’s not entirely surprising either. After all, Ball had already missed the entire 2022-23 season due to a knee injury.

Lonzo Ball’s absence from the 2023-24 NBA season was officially confirmed by the Chicago Bulls’ president of basketball operations, Artras Karniovas.

Karniovas stated: “I think we expect him not to come back next season and continue his recovery. If he comes back, that’d be great. But we’re just going to prepare for the season as if he’s not going to come back next season yet.”

Last month, it was reported in the media that the Chicago Bulls authorities do not expect the 25-year-old to play again. However, optimism about his future is ripping through publicly, and the team has even refrained from requesting a pay waiver to avoid sending the message that they’re done with him.

Do you think Ball will ever return to the NBA court?
