The rumors about who will replace Sergio Busquets in Barcelona are many – and there will be more.

Scores of players have been linked with the Catalan giants, most recently Ajax’s blockbuster midfielder Edson Álvarez. But one name that has been mentioned for a long time in this context is Rúben Neves.

Now Spanish Sport reports that Barcelona wants to buy Neves already in January. The 25-year-old midfielder recently flirted with the La Liga giants himself.

  • If you ask me generally, all players want to play in Barcelona. It is one of the best clubs in the world and it is a privilege for me to be associated with that club. Who doesn’t want to play in Barcelona? It is normal, he said then.

Sport further claims that Wolves demanded around 50 million euros, about 550 million Swedish kronor, to release Neves. The Portuguese has a contract until 2024 and thus it will be the same amount that applies when the transfer window opens.
