Back in 2023, Barcelona were on the hunt for a new right-back, as they had plans to sign someone who could allow Jules Koundé to be used in his natural position as a centre-back. One of the options they considered was Benjamin Pavard, who was playing for Bayern Munich at the time.

In the end, Barcelona decided not to sign Pavard, who later went to Inter. But the France international could now finally get the opportunity to move to Catalonia, as Sport reports that he has been offered to the reigning La Liga champions.

Pavard fits the profile Hansi Flick wants

Flick suits Pavard well, as he coached him during his time as manager of Bayern. The 29-year-old fits the profile that the Barcelona manager wants – a flexible centre-back who can also be used as a full-back. Even the player wants a transfer to Barcelona, after rejecting an offer from Saudi Arabian club Neom SC in the hope of staying in Europe.

However, there are many doubts surrounding a possible signing of Pavard. Barcelona already have two players with similar qualities in Jules Koundé and Eric García – and on top of that, his salary will be difficult to cover. If a centre-back is to be brought in, it would make more sense to have a left-handed player as a direct replacement for Martínez.

In any case, the report emphasizes that Barcelona will almost certainly not go for Pavard – or anyone else who needs to be registered as a first-team player in La Liga. Therefore, a transfer is very unlikely.
