Barcelona have received the necessary approval for the sale of Camp Nou VIP seats, which the club hopes will now allow them to register Dani Olmo.

The summer signing is still waiting to become eligible to play for the Blaugrana again after his temporary registration expired on December 31. Barcelona had hoped that the sale of their VIP seats at the new Camp Nou to investors from Qatar and Dubai would solve the problem, but complications prevented the club from obtaining the necessary green light from La Liga.

This meant that Olmo was unregistered by the league and lost his playing license for the season, with players only allowed to have such a license per season.

Due to a clause in his contract, Olmo could have chosen to terminate the deal and sign for a new club, which would have had serious financial consequences for Barcelona. However, he chose not to do so and has now received good news.

Sport now reports that Barcelona’s sale of their VIP seats has been officially approved, meaning they now have the funds at their disposal to register Olmo. – Now there is again “optimism” in the Catalan offices that football’s governing bodies in Spain will make an exception for the club, which has invoked “force majeure”, and allow the registration of Olmo (and young striker Pau Victor).

After being rejected by LaLiga on December 31, Barcelona appealed to the Spanish federation for a new license, but the latter is unable to hand out licenses or register players without the approval of the league or unless special circumstances allow it.

Barcelona are now working to convince the federation and La Liga that the delay regarding the VIP seat deal was out of their control and hope to provide positive news regarding Olmo’s registration before Hansi Flick’s pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon.

Barcelona face Barbastro at the Estadio Municipal on Sunday in the Copa del Ray.
