Barcelona are on the hunt for a new striker, as it is becoming increasingly likely that one of their current nines will leave the club in the summer. Both Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres have been heavily linked with transfers away, but at this stage, the former is still most likely to leave, as his contract expires in June.
Julián Álvarez is still Barcelona’s main target, but it is becoming increasingly clear that it will be incredibly difficult to make a deal with Atlético Madrid. Cheaper options are also considered, but what you’re looking for is something in between – and that’s where João Pedro can come in.

According to Simon Phillips (via CaughtOffside), Barcelona are seriously interested in Pedro, who has impressed in his first season at Chelsea. 18 goals and six assists across all competitions speak for themselves, and he would have plenty of opportunities to improve on those numbers if he ends up at Spotify Camp Nou.
Chelsea may not consider letting Pedro leave just 12 months after joining from Brighton, but even if that’s the case, a deal would likely be possible for under €100 million – which is the budget Barcelona have set for a new nine. If it is carried out, it could be a smart business for a player who is getting better and better, and at the age of 24 he will only continue to develop.
Pedro’s profile is something for Barcelona to consider
Pedro would fit in well at Barcelona, although the fact that he is not a pure striker may be a concern for sporting director Deco and his team. Still, he would be able to interact effectively with players like Fermín López, Lamine Yamal and Raphinha, which would be an exciting prospect for the supporters.
Currently, Barcelona’s interest in Pedro is only in its early stages, but it remains to be seen whether it will become more serious as summer approaches.
