In previous years, it was claimed in the English media that Michael Carrick as permanent Man Utd manager would trigger Marcus Rashford to return to Old Trafford. Rashford has always stated that he is very happy at Barca and wants a continuation. Earlier this year, Spanish media reported Barcelona want Rashford signing, but need to negotiate down the purchase option in the lease. The United management closed the door to negotiations, now it is reported that Barcelona have made their decision.
Barcelona do not have unlimited funds to comfortably activate the agreed purchase option of 30-35 million euros without challenging their financial structure. Due to strict financial rules in La Liga, Barcelona are struggling to register players, and have been hesitant to trigger a purchase clause of 30 million+ euros, which does not “fit” along with the sky-high wage expenses. Plan A was to pressure United to negotiate down the price. Earlier this month, Sky Sport reported that Manchester United are adamant about the transfer fee Barcelona have signed, with the Premier League club closing the door on renegotiating the option.

Marcus Rashford has plenty of options, in and out of the Premier League, Barcelona cannot drag out the process of giving Rashford answers about the way forward. According to Spanish Sport , the answer is coming now.
The Spanish media claim Barcelona have recently made the decision that Marcus Rashford signing at the full call option price must be carried out. Simply because the price tag of alternatives to a player like Rashford is so much higher. In addition, the Manchester United player is already at the club and has met the high expectations with his 10 goals and 13 assists in 34 games in a Barca shirt.
There will be no Rashford return to Old Trafford for United supporters, but the Premier League club are securing a solid sale income for the former academy player in what has been a protracted and demanding situation.
