Barcelona are focusing on player exports in the final weeks of the transfer window, as it is virtually impossible for them to bring in more new players. More players are on their way out, and one of those who could leave the club is one of La Masia’s biggest talents.

Players such as Iñaki Peña and Oriol Romeu are expected to leave Barcelona in the coming weeks, as both are not part of Hansi Flick’s plans for the 2025/26 season. Guille Fernández, on the other hand, is a player that the manager wants to keep, although there is still a possibility that he could leave.

Earlier this summer, it was reported that Borussia Dortmund are interested in Guille, who is widely recognized as one of the biggest talents from La Masia. According to Gianluigi Longari (via MD), the German club has now taken a step further.

Dortmund have started club-to-club talks with Barcelona, asking about Guille’s contract situation and whether a transfer is possible.

Barcelona has a clear stance on Guille

According to the report, Barcelona have absolutely no intention of letting Guille leave on a permanent transfer. Their plan will be to arrange a loan for the young midfielder if he is to leave the club, but since Flick is counting on him, there is a high probability that he will stay with the reigning La Liga champions for the 2025/26 season.

However, the situation could change depending on whether Guille wants a change of club. With less than two years left on his current contract, Barcelona could be forced to sell if he is not open to extending – which could only happen next summer when he turns 18.

Should Barcelona enter into serious negotiations, they will almost certainly demand a buy-back clause and/or a significant resale percentage, allowing them to retain some control over the big talent.
