Neymar has filled up his coffers since his exit from Barcelona in 2017, which shocked Barcelona management, players and supporters. However, there has never been any doubt that Neymar’s football life was never the same after. For several years, Neymar has been working for a return to Barcelona, now a door is opening ajar.
Neymar is currently on a six-month contract at his childhood club Santos, where he is being treated as the club’s big son. The 33-year-old has ambitions to play Brazil to the World Cup title in 2026, and has made moves to get in shape for this.
Since the 2022 World Cup, Neymar has been on the pitch a total of 20 times, divided between PSG, the Saudi Arabian club and the Brazilian national team. Despite this, Spanish journalist Joan Fontes claims that Neymar strongly wants to return for a final round at Barcelona in the run-up to the World Cup, where the close relationship with club president Joan Laporta is maintained. Neymar is said to have offered to sign a pre-contract, reports Fontes.
Neymar’s agent Pini Zahavi is friends with the Barca president, Barcelona are looking for a big attraction when they return to Camp Nou.
Does this mean that the door is open for Neymar?
According to the Spanish journalist, Laporta has given Neymar a clear message that a return will be possible first, if there is no cost to Barcelona, plus Neymar must convince that he is physically capable of returning to the necessary level of European top football.
For this, the 33-year-old now has around four months to do so.
