Barcelona had originally hoped to be back at Camp Nou by now, but delays have meant that this has not been possible. Now they hope to be able to play at their iconic home ground again in the early phases of next season. In the meantime, the club has given a promising update.
Work on Camp Nou started in June 2023, and while the entire project is unlikely to be completed before 2026 at best, the first team should be able to play matches with reduced capacity from September. Delays have left Barcelona behind, but the excitement is constantly building for their return – and for the fans, it was likely to increase tenfold on Thursday.

The turf has been almost completely laid, and significant progress has been made with the installation of the seats in the stands. There is still work to be done to complete the new roof of the iconic arena, but with increased work capacity, it is hoped that it will be ready in the coming months.
Barcelona are very much looking forward to returning to Camp Nou – both for sporting and financial reasons. Matchday revenues have been significantly reduced since temporarily moving to the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys at Montjuïc before the 2023/24 season. As a result, it has been a bigger challenge for the Catalan club to deal with their well-documented financial problems.

But things will soon improve, even if it may not happen until the summer 2025 transfer window closes. Either way, Barcelona are counting down the days until they are finally back home.
