Germany international Jonathan Tah appears to be turning down a move to Barcelona this summer, despite the parties agreeing on contract terms.
According to reports, Tah and Barcelona have had a deal in place since February, but the Catalan big clubs have not been able to guarantee his registration due to ongoing problems with the salary framework.

Barcelona informed the 29-year-old centre-back that they could not complete the signing until at least one of the club’s five current centre-backs was sold. Tah has now lost patience, and after recently hinting at an early decision on his future, it seems that Barcelona is no longer an option.
Bayern Munich resumes the hunt
Bayern Munich, who already in the summer of 2023 had an agreement with Tah but not Leverkusen, resumed interest in April after initially withdrawing from the fight for him. According to CFBayern, Tah has now decided to stay in Germany, despite his previous desire for a Spanish adventure.
Although Real Madrid previously turned down the possibility of signing Tah, he was seen as a potential option if they did not get their first-buy defenders. Despite interest from Liverpool and Tottenham, everything now points to Bayern.
Barcelona out of the picture
Tah and his representatives have given up Barcelona as an opportunity. Bayern Munich’s sporting director Max Eberl received the go-ahead from the board on Monday to offer Tah a three-year contract.
Barcelona newspaper MD reports that the club has accepted that Tah will not be their player.
A missed opportunity for Barcelona?
In recent years, the Catalan have established a habit of bringing in experienced free players, and Tah could be next in line. Although they have no shortage of centre-backs for next season, Tah – with Ronald Araujo’s uncertain future – could become an ideal partner for Pau Cubarsi in the medium term.
