While Norway and the Nordic countries are licking their wounds after Bodø/Glimt’s loss to Sporting in the Champions League (We are heavily impressed and look forward to the continuation), Barcelona’s second round of 16 final against Newcastle was a display of pure football joy and energy.
The success in both the Champions League and La Liga means that the financially damaged club will be significantly less damaged!

Reaching the quarter-finals brings an additional €12.5 million, increasing FC Barcelona’s total revenue from this season’s Champions League to €100.34 million. It also ensures that the club meets its financial forecasts, which are built around regularly advancing to this stage of Europe’s premier club competition.
Barcelona’s Champions League earnings reach new heights
FC Barcelona’s qualification for the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League has provided a significant financial boost, both immediately and for the long-term forecasts for the 2025-26 season.
Advancing to the quarter-finals earns the club €12.5 million in prize money from UEFA. Equally important, it allows Barcelona to achieve one of the most important goals incorporated into the annual budget, namely a quarter-final place in Europe’s top competition every season.
With all revenue streams now taken into account, including sporting performance, historical coefficient, market contribution and fixed participation fee for league play, Barcelona have already secured €100.34 million from this season’s Champions League participation.
More income is still on the table
This amount can increase significantly, depending on how far the team goes:
- €15 million to reach the semi-finals
- €18.5 million to play the final in Budapest on May 30
- €6.5 million to win the final
Winning the tournament will also qualify Barcelona for the UEFA Super Cup, which provides an additional entry fee of €4 million, plus €1 million if they lift the trophy there.
In the best-case scenario, Barcelona could reach a total of 140,34 million euros if they win their sixth European Cup title and, in addition, win the Super Cup, which is scheduled for August 12 in Salzburg against the Europa League champion.
Close to historical income levels
Last season’s Champions League adventure generated €116.56 million for the club, narrowly shy of the club record of €117.73 million set in the 2018-19 season, when Barcelona also reached the semi-finals.
