It should be remembered that Lamine Yamal has been injured since December 15. Following the conclusion of the match against CD Leganés (0-1) and the studies conducted by the club’s Medical Services, it was determined that the player from Mataró had suffered a grade 1 sprain of the anterior tibiofibular ligament of the right ankle, with an estimated recovery time of three to four weeks.
The medical team is optimistic about his availability for the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia where they will face Athletic Club.
While Yamal will not feature in Barcelona’s Copa del Rey clash against Barbastro this Saturday, Flick hopes to have him ready for the Super Cup semi-final against Athletic Club on 8 January.
Flick could deploy him as a starter if his fitness allows, or he might use the teenager as a substitute depending on how he performs in the upcoming training sessions.

On December 27, the Globe Soccer Awards ceremony took place in Dubai, where Yamal was named the Best Young Player.
The young Spanish winger is having another fantastic season. The Barcelona star has scored six goals and provided 12 assists in 21 matches across all competitions. He also won the UEFA European Championship 2024 with the Spanish national team.
In addition to Yamal’s progress, there is also positive news regarding Andreas Christensen. The Danish defender took part in training earlier today and could be fully cleared to play in the coming days.
The club’s press office shared a photo showing Ansu Fati fully participating in today’s training session.
These developments provide a timely boost for Flick as he prepares Barcelona for a challenging run of fixtures.
