Bayer Leverkusen has been searching for reinforcements in central defense this winter, and today they finalized an important transfer.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Spanish center-back Mario Hermoso is moving to Bayer from Roma.

Roma and Bayer Leverkusen have reached an agreement for the transfer of Mario Hermoso. The transfer was specifically requested by head coach Xabi Alonso.

The 29-year-old player has already agreed to personal contract terms with the Pharmaceutics, and both parties are actively working on the final details of the agreement.

Mario Hermoso became a player for the Roman club in September of last year, having joined as a free agent. He has made 13 appearances for the team, scoring 1 goal.

Hermoso is now ready to leave the Italian capital in search of more consistent playing time.

Bayer will cover Hermoso’s full salary until the end of the season.
