When Florian Wirtz signalled he did not want to join his manager Xabi Alonso at Real Madrid, Bayern Munich thought the way was open to secure their absolute top goal of the summer.

But now they have lost the battle for Florian Wirtz who has decided to go to Liverpool.

Bayern are betting on Premier League star
Bayern Munich are ready to respond to the fact that they missed out on Florian Wirtz by going hard for a new Premier League star – for the second summer in a row. The Bavarian giants, who won the Bundesliga for the 34th time after a strong first season under Vincent Kompany, are looking to further strengthen their squad in the transfer window.

Bayern’s tactics: Bringing in the best from rivals Bayern
have a habit of bringing in the best players from their Bundesliga rivals, and that trend looks set to continue with the arrival of Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Jonathan Tah, who is now ready for a free transfer.

At one point, it looked like he would be followed by teammate Florian Wirtz, but the 22-year-old – who has also been wanted by Manchester City – has now chosen Liverpool alongside Jeremie Frimpong.

Eberechi Eze on the radar
According to The Mirror, Bayern have now turned their focus to Crystal Palace’s top scorer Eberechi Eze as an option.

Bayern did business with Palace last summer when they signed Michael Olise for £50.8 million. The France international scored 17 goals and provided 21 assists in his debut season, and Bayern believe Eze can reach the same level.

Unique expiry clause
A transfer for the former QPR player has been discussed after Eze scored the winning goal in Palace’s historic FA Cup triumph over Manchester City at Wembley.

City have been following the 26-year-old for a long time, and several other Premier League clubs are also keeping an eye on his situation.

Palace, who are preparing for their first European Cup season, see Eze as a key player under Oliver Glasner and want to tie him down to a new contract.

His current deal has an expiry clause of £60 million plus £8 million in bonuses – but this clause expires about two weeks before the transfer window closes.

Other players on Bayern’s radar include Brighton’s Kaoru Mitoma and AC Milan’s Rafael Leão.

Eze signed for Palace in 2020 for £17 million and has since made 165 appearances for the club.
