Manchester United and Arsenal started Project Leroy Sané when the German player did not agree with Bayern Munich and could negotiate freely with other clubs from the new year. Two months before his contract expires in Munich, there is still no decision from the 29-year-old’s side, but it should be clear that he does not intend to retire with 100 million euros in his account.
In recent weeks, German media have reported that Bayern Munich are heading for an extension, where a contract extension until 2028 is on the table, with 10 million euros plus bonuses in annual salary. Not at all a bad salary for running around in shorts and kicking a ball, but far below what the winger could have cashed in the “Ronaldo league”.

According to German Sky Sports, Sané has rejected a four-year contact with Benzema’s club, where an annual salary of 25 million euros would persuade the 29-year-old.
Cashing in upwards of €45 million (including bonuses) in three years at Bayern Munich in the UEFA region, the last tens of millions of euros extra were certainly not enough.
