After Bodø/Glimt’s win against Manchester City at Aspmyra, the English state channel BBC was concerned with how exotic it all was, up there at the North Pole. Then came victory against Inter Milan, and BBC journalists realized that this was something more than a one-off football miracle.
It is always entertaining to hear what the major media players out in Europe write about Bodø/Glimt. The BBC’s coverage has now gone from miracle – to the adventure continues.

Here are parts of the BBC’s summary of Bodø/Glimt’s 3-0 win on Wednesday:
“Bodø/Glimt’s adventurous Champions League run continued when Sporting was swept aside in the first leg of the round of 16 in Norway. It was the fifth win in a row for the small club, who in their debut season in the tournament itself snuck into the play-off round by finishing in 23rd place in the league phase.”
“Bodø failed to win any of their first six Champions League games, but produced remarkable victories over Manchester City and Atletico Madrid to secure a play-off against last year’s finalist Inter Milan – then beat the three-time winners home and away.”
“Kjetil Knutsen chose the same line-up that won the four games for the fifth time – something only Auxerre have done before in the tournament’s history 23 years ago. Their guests, exhausted by injury and suspension, simply couldn’t cope with the home side’s signature high-energy, high-pressing approach and, most of all, their superior patience in attacking ball.
“… They head to Lisbon for the second leg next Tuesday, where the capacity of the Jose Alvalade Stadium can accommodate almost every resident of the fishing community they call home. And where Bodø will aim to write a new historic chapter in its fantastic history by booking a date with Arsenal or Bayer Leverkusen in the quarter-finals.”
