No matter how successful Bodø/Glimt with Kjetil Knutsen at the helm has been out in Europe, the major foreign media do not cease to wonder about the microclub “north of the Arctic circle”.
Yes, the weather gods had once again warmed up with the anti-perfect conditions for hot-blooded Lazio players, directly from 20 degrees heat in Rome, but the superstar Pedro was the first to admit that Bodø/Glimt were better and deservedly won.

The BBC also praised Bodø/Glimt in a well-deserved victory over the Serie A club. BBC journalist Joe Rindl had caught up on the Europa League match and wrote an enthusiastic match report that deserves to be attached in full, English form:
“Norwegian champions Bodo/Glimt stunned Italian side Lazio with a deserved win in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final.
In a match played in freezing conditions north of the Arctic circle, Bodø/Glimt took the lead through Ulrik Saltnes’ poked close-ranged finish in the second minute of the second half.
Saltnes then scored his second goal of this season’s competition in the 69th minute with a brilliant lob over Lazio keeper Christos Mandas after a fine chipped pass from Jens Petter Hauge.
Saltnes almost completed a hat-trick in the 83rd minute but was denied by Mandas when through on goal.
Mandas also did superbly to keep out defender Odin Bjortuft’s injury-time volley.
The two goals reflected Bodø/Glimt’s dominance and the Norwegian side will try to capitalise on their lead when the two sides meet next Thursday for their second leg in Rome.
Volunteers were needed to clear snow from the pitch before kick-off after a heavy fall on Wednesday night, and the home side made those efforts worthwhile.”
We especially liked the last one with the snow shoveling…
