When Florian Wirtz signed for Liverpool in the summer, there was loud buzz at Bayern Munich. The Bundesliga giants have a long tradition of snatching up their rivals’ biggest stars, Wirtz was intended to play a key role, as one of the building blocks of the Bayern attack. Now there is a buzz in Munich, they simply believe that Florian Wirtz was deceived.

Wirtz played his way to Player of the Match status on Sunday against West Ham in the 0-2 win, but has mostly struggled since moving to the reigning Premier League champions. Bayern Munich’s board member and honorary president, Uli Hoeness, does not hold back in his criticism of Liverpool and Arne Slot, going so far as to say Wirtz has been deceived.

-Slot supposedly promised him something that he in no way keeps. He promised him that he would get shirt number 10 and build a new team around him. That is nonsense. He got number 7, and they don’t play around Florian Wirtz at all,” Hoeness begins, according to German SID.

“I think it’s terrible on Wirtz’s behalf. He received all the balls in Leverkusen. At Liverpool, he gets five balls in one inning, and if he loses two, he gets a bad grade,” the Bayern boss fired.
