It is quite conceivable that Bodl/Glimt in the next edition of the Europa League will face Real Betis, but then probably without Antony who will end up out of the reach of the “green and whites”. Manager Manuel Pellegrini has called for using all channels to raise the funds needed. The irony is that after the success of Antony with them, only the price will increase.

A bidding war is brewing for Antony. Manchester United have set a sale price of between €40 million and €50 million, which is about double what was talked about before his loan to Real Betis.

According to Football Espana, Atletico Madrid are increasing their interest in Antony and are now ready to start official talks with Manchester United about the player.

Until today Antony received a visit from one of his heroes!

Atletico have already obtained information about the winger and contacted Antony’s representatives. They are far from the only ones who are interested in Antony. It’s quite clear that there is a bidding war before the player is started.

Villarreal are also big admirers of the player and plan to start negotiations with Manchester United over a possible transfer this summer. Real Betis would like to keep Antony, but may lack the financial means to complete a deal.

Juventus are also interested, but as a matter of principle, they are staying away from bidding battles.

Antony has revived his career in Spain after being loaned to Real Betis in January. He has been one of the best players in La Liga, with eight goals and five assists across all competitions.

He has played a key role in Betis’ journey to the Conference League final, with two goals and an assist in the semi-final win over Fiorentina.

From high expectations to failure at Manchester United

Antony was brought to Manchester United from Ajax in the summer of 2022 for €100 million, and great things were expected of Erik ten Hag’s former pupil.

But at Old Trafford, Antony has been a total failure. In his first season, he scored just four goals and provided two assists in the Premier League, and seemed far from the physical, mental and technical level required for such a big club.

Last season, Antony was even worse, with only one Premier League goal and one assist.

This season, he didn’t start a single game in the Premier League or Europa League, playing just 83 minutes from the bench before his loan deal with Betis.

In total, he has one goal and only 400 minutes spread over 14 games across all competitions this season.

Manchester United are planning to sell Antony permanently this summer.
