Transfer journalists Ben Jacobs and Romano both report Arsenal have made bids of £60m for the striker who last season scored 19 Premier League goals, so far this season the 29-year-old has 10 Premier League goals in 23 appearances.

Romano claims the Villa management are unhappy with the bid coming just before the important Champions League match against Celtic, but Arsenal have now set their sights on Watkins as their chosen No. 9 and are unlikely to give the first rejection as a no way.
