Rio Ferdinand’s job is to talk about football, make headlines – and tell his old club Manchester United what it takes to succeed.

Sporten.com expert panel believes, like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in his time, that the ideal striker this summer also for Manchester United is Bayern Munich star Harry Kane, who must return to the Premier League to take the top scorer throne from Alan Shearer. Victor Osimhen is okay, but as I said, not at the top of our wish list.

Victor Osimhen is currently on loan from Napoli to Galatasaray, and all indications are that the Italian club will sell him permanently this summer. Several media outlets have reported that Manchester United have the 26-year-old goalscorer high on their wish list.

But the transfer could just as easily be to Saudi Arabia. According to transfer expert Nicolò Schira, two Saudi clubs are ready to try to sign him this summer.

Osimhen’s buyout clause is said to be around 75 million euros. The Nigerian striker has this season accounted for 28 goals and 5 assists in 32 games in all competitions.

  • Manchester United have long been linked with him, but the uncertainty surrounding the club’s sporting projects and finances can be a challenge. Saudi Arabia is likely to offer high salaries and large transfer fees, which can be difficult to refuse. Marca believes that Osimhen could get €50 million a year if he goes to the desert country, more than double what Manchester United will offer.
  • Napoli wants to sell, and with a clear buyout clause, the bidding round could be intense.

If it is Saudi Arabia, he will be the last in a line of star players who have made the trip to the Middle East in recent years. However, if a top club like United makes a concrete offer, Osimhen may prefer to continue in Europe.

One thing is for sure – the battle for his signature will be one of the most exciting transfer sagas of the summer.
