Things started to loosen up for Andreas Schelderup last season at Benfica. Then Jose Mourinho entered the stage at the Portuguese big club in September. Four months later, the Norwegian player is well on his way out of the club. Perhaps not so strange, when Ståle Solbakken emphasizes the urgency of getting a new club and playing time, for a ticket to the World Cup squad.

Andreas Scelderup played children’s football for Bodø/Glimt, as a 15-year-old he had been through training stays with Barcelona, Ajax and Liverpool. He got access to the training sessions with the A-team of Bodø/Glimt, then it was a corona epidemic that kept the teenager away from the A-team.

2020 saw the trip to Denmark and North Zealand, where Schelderup quickly became a supporter favorite. In 2023, he was signed by Benfica, but had a very tough transfer, where Roger Schmidt did not give Schelderup access to “play warm” at the Portuguese big club. Schelderup pushed for a loan last season and had a brilliant season back at Nordsjælland, where the Danes still love the Norwegian player.

Back at Benfica last season, things started to loosen up. Transfer journalist Romano reported clubs from Spain, Germany and the Netherlands had shown interest in Schelderup, but Benfica saw the Norwegian as a future star this summer and closed the door to inquiries from the clubs.

According to transfer journalist Sacha Tavolieri, that door is now open. Tavolieri claims that several Italian clubs are interested in renting the 21-year-old, while the Belgian big club Club Brugge wants more. Here, bids of 11 million euros for Schelderup have been submitted for permanent transfer.
