Liverpool seem to be on the hunt for a new manager in the summer after a disappointing season, with Arne Slot under pressure to turn things around.

The Merseyside-based club currently sit fifth in the Premier League table, two points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa.

In the league, Liverpool have failed to win their last two games, and the lack of stability has been a real problem for them this season.

After winning the Premier League title last season, many expected the Reds to fight for first place again, but Liverpool are now 21 points behind league leaders Arsenal.

Slot must show signs of improvement between now and the end of the season, otherwise sporting director Richard Hughes and his team could consider making a change in the manager’s chair.

Liverpool have their eye on a manager in the Bundesliga

According to reports, Liverpool are showing interest in hiring Stuttgart manager Sebastian Hoeness at the end of the season.

Stuttgart are currently in fourth place in the Bundesliga, and with Slot under pressure, the Reds are considering a change.

Other reports have claimed that Liverpool are planning talks with Slot in the summer about a potential sacking, and the Dutch manager will face scrutiny after a disappointing season, regardless of how they finish the season.

Xabi Alonso is set to take over at Anfield, and the Spanish manager is currently out of work after leaving Real Madrid. But Hoeness has now also been added to their shortlist if they make a change later this year.

Considering the money Liverpool have spent in recent years, and especially in the last summer window, their season has been unacceptable.

Although Slot won the league in his first season, he mainly inherited Jürgen Klopp’s players, and now that he has had time to implement his own style and philosophy, things have gone downhill.

Hoeness, who has been described as “outstanding”, has done a phenomenal job with Stuttgart after saving them from relegation a few years ago, before leading them to a second-place finish in the 2023/2024 season.

Hoeness has exceeded expectations with a budget that is very small compared to Liverpool’s, and he would be an upgrade from Slot if they can bring him to Anfield.
