We are used to hearing coaches and players from European big clubs squirm in frustration after losing to Bodø/Glimt at Aspmyra. After the loss, there is often an “unprecedentedly bad playing conditions” as an excuse and explanation. Lazio player Pedro Rodriguez also points to the conditions at Aspmyra, but does something as unusual as admitting that Bodø/Glimt were simply the best.

The 37-year-old Pedro has a bunch of games at Barcelona, Chelsea, has played for Roma and now Lazio since 2021. The veteran has been involved in most things, he sees no problem praising Bodø/Glimt after the 2-0 win in the first Europa League quarter-final.

“It’s always difficult to play here. We have to tell it like it is. The surface plays a role, and it is not to our advantage. However, that is no excuse. Bodø was better than us. They created more chances and deserved to win. We have to focus on the second leg, prepare well and deliver a comeback,” Pedro told UEFA’s website.

The surface was not in our favor, but Bodø/Glimt were better than us. Respect.
