Tottenham will NOT complete a deal to sign a high-profile striker they have already bid for, and a reporter also claims that an associated and even bigger second deal has now also been cancelled.
Tottenham are keen to add firepower to Thomas Frank’s squad before the September 1 deadline passes.

Need for reinforcements
James Maddison’s ACL injury and Son Heung-min’s move to LAFC have left Frank with few quality options in a season where Spurs will once again participate in the Champions League.
Spurs have their eye on Eberechi Eze for the number 10 role. According to reporter Ben Jacobs, there is now an agreement between the clubs in place.
However, today’s update concerns the other high-profile striker Tottenham wanted to sign – Savinho.
Cancelled Savinho transfer
Spurs launched a bid worth approximately £42 million for the Brazilian winger earlier this month. According to The Times, it was understood that Manchester City were asking for over £60 million and potentially as much as £67 million.
Savinho did not push to leave Manchester City, but was willing to join Spurs. A desire to play regularly in a World Cup year was in the back of his mind.
However, reporter Graume Bailey has recently stated that Manchester City have put an end to Savinho’s departure.
Now, new updates from Spanish football expert Guillem Balague have confirmed that Savinho to Tottenham has been CANCELLED.
In a post on X on Monday, Balague wrote: “Manchester City have decided that Savinho will stay.”

Consequences for Rodrygo transfer
The fact that Savinho stays at Manchester City also ruins an even bigger transfer that could and perhaps would have followed quickly…
Pep Guardiola personally asked for the signing of Real Madrid’s Rodrygo if both Savinho and James McAtee were sold.
McAtee has moved to Nottingham Forest, but with Savinho now in place, there will be no transfer for Rodrygo.
To underline this sequence of events, Balague added: “[Savinho staying] kills any possibility of Rodrygo joining City (Real Madrid did not get an offer for him as it was dependent on Savinho leaving).”
And in a more recent social media update on Tuesday, Balague once again declared that Savinho is not going anywhere this summer.
“Now that City have decided to keep Savinho, the possibility of Rodrygo going to City is over,” the reporter stated.
