You’d be pretty tired of the Glazer family and Sir Jim Ratcliffe to applaud wildly when a member of the Saudi royal family hints at buying Manchester United. – But fans reacted quickly to the billionaire’s post after United’s 3-2 win at the Emirates.
Turki Alalshikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia’s entertainment authority, has sent Manchester United supporters into ecstasy with his post after his team’s 3-2 win over Arsenal at the Emirates.

Michael Carrick’s side moved up to fourth place in the Premier League with a surprise win in North London on Sunday 25 January, when Arsenal saw the seven-point gap between themselves, Manchester City and Aston Villa shrink to just four points after the game in matchweek 23.
Arsenal took the lead via an own goal by Lisandro Martinez in the 29th minute, but United took just eight minutes to equalise when Bryan Mbeumo took full advantage of Martin Zubimendi’s misplaced pass.
The Red Devils then took the lead through Patrick Dorgus’ long-range shot in the 50th minute, but the league leaders equalized in the 84th minute when Mikel Merino stepped the ball into the net.
But it was United who walked away with the points, rather than the home side, who were unbeaten at the Emirates since May 2025 before Sunday’s game.
The second-half substitute, Matheus Cunha, unleashed a powerful shot into the arc past Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya with just three minutes remaining, giving Carrick his second win in as many games since replacing Ruben Amorim as United boss earlier in January.
Pundits and United supporters were full of praise for United’s performance, with ex-captain Gary Neville expressing his excitement over the post-match effort.

“I’m absolutely blown away by what I’ve seen in eight days because you can’t believe how low and how bad it was a few weeks ago considering some of the performances we’ve seen,” Neville said on The Gary Neville podcast.
“There are several things that have changed: the intensity, the compactness, the aggressiveness of the defense, their willingness to rally behind the ball and be hard to beat, and to fight through difficult moments in the game.”
Meanwhile, Alalshikh, who is heavily involved in promoting entertainment and sports initiatives such as boxing and football in Saudi Arabia, also reacted on social media by simply posting a photo of United’s logo with three flame emojis, accompanied by a heart and peace emoji.
The Saudi Arabian was previously linked with the purchase of an English football club in 2025, when reports of interest in Championship club Bristol City surfaced, before quickly denying them.
Also back in October, he claimed that United were “at an advanced stage of finalising a deal to sell to a new investor”, although the details of what he believed remain unclear months later.
Nevertheless, United supporters reacted quickly to his post on social media.
One asked: “Some chances of buying @ManUtd, Turki?????”
Another added: “Buy us… Sponsor us… Invest in the new stadium… anything.”
A third claimed: “Brother, I’m glad we won, but ownership is still United’s biggest problem. I know you’re a very busy man, but could you have tried to get the investors you mentioned some time ago to talk about their plans, or if they’re still planning to buy United?”
Despite the wishes of United fans, the club is currently owned by the Glazer family and Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
